Goan Beef Chilly Fry



Ingredients

½ kg Beef cut into thin strips
5-6 whole red chilies
8-10 peppercorns
½ tsp cumin seeds (jeera)
6 cloves
1 tsp turmeric powder
¼ cup Toddy vinegar (or plain vinegar)
½ beef stock
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1" ginger shredded (or diced very small)
6 cloves garlic shredded (or diced very small)
1 capsicum (julienne)
2 med tomatoes diced small
1 tbsp fresh coriander
1tbsp tomato Ketchup
salt to taste

Method
1. Marinate the beef strips with salt, vinegar and ginger-garlic paste. Keep aside for about an hour
2. Lightly roast red chilies, cumin seeds, cloves, peppercorns and turmeric powder
3. Coarsely crush spices and then mix the same with the marinating beef strips
4. Heat oil in a frying pan  and fry the beef until tender
5. Add beef stock to allow the beef to soften a bit. Remove from the flame
6. In the same pan , heat another 2tbsp oil.
7. Add onions , shredded ginger and shredded garlic. Cook until onions are translucent to almost brown.
8. Now add the tomatoes and allow for it to cook.
9. Next, add the fried beef with the rest of the remainder of the marinade, and the capsicum and cook a little more (until the capsicum starts to wilt a bit)
10. Add salt to taste
11. Garnish with the fresh coriander and serve hot with bread or rice
