BeefSteak (Mumbai East Indian Ethnic Style)

"So much beef, so little time...I love BBQ's and that is common knowledge to those that know me. I tried my hand at the beef steak recipe in the East Indian cookery book with a slight variation in methodology.
Should time permit, I shall add another methodology for those that would like to grill their steaks on a grill. Let's get started with the method I used today...(NO PRESSURE COOKER USED :D )

Ingredients
½ kg Beefsteak
2 onions cut round
2" inches Ginger (julienned)
6-8 cloves garlic (Julienned)
6 green Chillies (julienned)
1 ½ tsp pepper powder
2 tbsp oil
½ cup water
2 tbsp vinegar
Salt to taste

Method:
1. Slice beef into pieces with a width of approx. 1" thickness.
2.Using a mallet, pound the steak to flatten it a bit. Pounding, also help loosen the texture of the meat and aids in cooking faster.
3. Add Salt and pepper to the steaks and keep aside for 15 mins.
4. Heat oil 1tbsp oil in a pan and swirl the pan to ensure that the oil covers the surface. Then to this heated pan, add the steaks.
5. Grill the steaks for 4-5 mins on either side till they are golden brown. Touch the steaks with your finger to ensure that the steak is tender to touch.
6. Remove from the pan, and tent/cover the steak with foil. after 5 mins, remove and slice the steaks fine to your desired thickness. If you find the steaks a little bloody (they should not be by this time), don't panic.
7. Now add the remaining oil to the same pan (don't wash the pan) and toss in the onions, chillies, ginger and garlic and saute for around 2 mins.
8. Now add the sliced steak to the pan and ½ cup water and cook for another 5mins. (till water dries) .
9. Add vinegar to the pan and saute for another minute.
10. Remove and serve hot
