King Fish (Surmai) East Indian Bafad
Ingredients
1kg King
Fish - Cut into slices
2tbsp
oil
Grind
to a paste
2 green chilies
¼ tsp turmeric
½ tsp
cumin (jeera)
To
be cut
8-10
cloves garlic (julienne)
1inch
ginger julienne
5 green chilies
1 cup
coconut milk
2 onions
sliced
1tbsp
vinegar
Tamarind juice
to taste
Salt to
taste
Method
1. In a heated pan , add 2tbsp oil and fry onions until translucent
2. Now add the ground paste and saute for a while
3. Next add to the pan, the cut ingredients, and a ¼ cup coconut milk.
4. Let this cook in the pan until you see a thick consistency of the now formed gravy
5. Now add vinegar and the rest of the coconut milk
6. Add tamarind juice to taste and a little water. Ensure that it is not too tart.
7. Now add the cut fish and simmer for around 10mins/ until the fish is cooked
8. Add salt to taste.
9. Serve hot with rice.
