Beef Mince in a Vindaloo Paste
Ingredients
250gms beef mince
2 med onions diced small
2 tsbp Ghee (any cooking oil will do)
1 large potato (chopped into thin quartered slices)
100gms green peas (optional)
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tbsp tomato puree
Ground to a Paste
8 Red Chillies
1/2tsp Cumin seeds
1/2tsp turmeric
8 cloves garlic
Use as little water to ensure a thick paste
Method
In a heated vessel (dekchi), add the ghee/or oil and fry the onions and lightly brown them. .
Then, add the ground paste to the onions and continue to fry a little more
Add the tomato puree and cook some more.
Now add the beef mince and salt to taste.
Stir the beef until all the water from the dekchi has dries out. Add the peas and potatoes to his mix and 1/2 cup water.
Simmer till all the potatoes are and peas are cooked.
Add a little more water if you must. But ensure that you do not turn this into a gravy.
When done, add the vinegar and remove from the stove.
